美加之行二（ 夏威夷的第一天）jetlag

经过了在悉尼的短暂逗留，我坐到了420分从悉尼飞到夏威夷的航班。这个航班又要花将近10个小时的时间 , 而且又是另外一个从下午飞到早上的班机

在Jetstar 的班机上，真的什么服务都没有，连杯水都得自己去到后面讨。还好事先打包了一些炒饭，才不至于饿到。在飞机上，自己坐到最后一排。整个行程，几乎没什么睡到，在不应该睡觉的时间睡觉，也有一间很难的事情。和一位洋人（steven) 和一位中国人铁牛哥 （长期住在墨尔本）坐在一起。有和铁牛哥聊了一下，原来他只是在夏威夷过境，要去到拉斯维加斯 。他有讲到美国多么的不好，人不友善，洛杉矶的街道都非常肮脏 。 想想不喜欢美国，又要去美国，会不会自相矛盾？自己不清楚的东西，还是不要去反驳，听听就好，

到机场大概是早上0700分了。一走出机场，大家都各走个的。几乎看不到任何人是跟我一样等交通的。自己安排的司机一直不见中影。走了15分钟都找不到可以帮助的人员找到了服务中心的号码，打去的时候，才得知电话要等到0800过后，才开始又人服务。没能太过着急，只有在外面坐足半个小时，到了0800 才打去服务中心，那里的人没有什么反应或道歉的意思，只说司机多15分钟才来。和自己说，旅行不好拿别人的过错来气自己，不如意的事，忍一下就过去了。司机20分后才出现载了自己和另外一个人去Waikiki 的酒店。自己到宿舍，已经要9点了。寄了行李之后，已经0930分了。

之后先到ABC　store买了一张一日卡，之后搭巴士去吃饭。巴士路线不难找，用Google map 就可以了。先到natural 素食吃午餐。那里虽然很多食物，但无葱蒜的食物却非常有限，叫了唯一能吃的套餐，份量大到怕人，最多吃了七成就吃不下了。 之后搭巴士到夏威夷皇宫。那里的景点也相当不错。因为走着走着，贴在身上的付费粘字掉了，没有机会去到底层看。便出去了。

接下来还可以去那里呢？自己坐了20小时的飞机，明显很累但又要等到三点才可以进旅舍。先去唐人街走一下。那里几乎没有看到什么有特色的建筑物。走到两点半，决定回到旅舍休息。在中途还在一个Hawaii Army Museum Society走了一下。

回到宿舍时已经接近4点了。自己的床位在四楼，没有电梯，还得杠行李上去。房间相当的大间，有两个双人床 （感觉比较像是工作的宿舍 ）自己在上铺 ，直接对着旧款的窗口式冷气 （ 大声的不得了 ）另外还有一个四人房。八个人共用一间浴室，也太少了。感觉就是自己住过最烂的民俗吧！不过价钱便宜，只能将就一些，希望可以认识到新的朋友。

在旅社有认识到一位男士， Ali ( 不记得来至哪里），有稍微聊了一下，到4点旁晚又搭巴士去到外面吃饭（ JOY restaurant ）。选择相对的多了一些，叫了一碗面来吃，还是相当大分，勉强吃得完。之后才回到海边。哪里有个很著名的表演，只看到最后的五分钟。

到旅舍已经0900分了。累到不行。游戏都没力气打。睡不到一下，有两个法国男子和一个越南女子进来。有起来和他们聊一下，但明显的话不投机。到十一点多，才关灯睡觉。讲到旅社的房间，里面只有一盏大灯，一关灯，大家就得一样时间睡觉。

美加之行一（ 前奏和悉尼的短暂逗留）

时间过得很快，这次又贵又远的旅行正式开始。事先的问题还是不少的。开始去夏威夷的行程出现很多问题。餐食就是一个大问题。有通过trip 要订餐。弄了大半天，都不得要领（都说没有素），还好scoot 有食物，jetstar 没有素食餐，不过可以打包东西上去。

讲到澳洲的transit visa . 开始各类消息都说少过八小时不要签证。所以拖到了星期四下午，自己在担心之下，特别问了trip.com. 的人员。他们也不清楚，可能要签证，要我去问大使馆。真的不能冒险的情况下，在旁晚六点半上网买了一个24小时的快速签证。 真不便宜。要170多美金。星期五一整天，工作也相当繁忙，签证却一直没有进展，害我担心了一整天。还好在飞机飞之前的三个小时拿到了签证。

到了晚上十点，才和母亲告别，去到机场搭0200分的班机。在出境的时候，才知道transit visa 可以当场弄的。不过自己还是拿到了ETA 到飞机上，自己坐到了较前的j9的位子，周围的人不太友善，没能讲到什么。飞机一起飞之后，就一路睡到0630才来早餐（饭食），感觉也是一个很不错的安排，有睡了三个小时，也比较精神吧。

到了悉尼机场大概是11点了。一路出境也相当顺利。之后先把行李推去jetstar 的柜台，不过柜台还没开发，只有拖着行李去市区走走。一趟去市区只用了15分钟，但费用真不便宜 （花了36澳元）。这次难得可以回到之前的一些旅游景点走，也是好事。前两天有联络在悉尼的朋友（weigang） 他星期六作工到三四点，没法和自己见面，只能等下一次了。

去到了比较熟悉的朱妈妈的餐馆吃饭，在澳洲市区没有没到网路，街上也没有什么免费网络，所以不好去到太远的地方，回不来就大事了。顺便打包晚餐。在附近走了15分钟，拍了一些街道的照片之后。又匆匆忙忙赶回机场了。

回顾一下这次的短暂的澳洲行，花了200多元，只为了在悉尼待几个小时，也实在太贵了。下次如果有任何转机，都要避开澳洲的城市比较好。

President election 2023

On sept 1 2023, Singapore awaited presidential election is finally here. Among the three gentlemen, Mr Tharman, Mr Ng Kok song, and Mr Tan Kin Lian, one will become the 9th president of Singapore. And I very glad to exercise my voting rights.

In the morning after breakfast, I went to my previous primary school (xingnan primary school) to vote. The place has changed quite a lot. The canteen has been somehow the same, but the outdoor field has disappeared (replaced by another building). I managed to do my vote and left for home At night, I spent my time doing watching the live telecast of the presidential election vote counting. Near my house were one of main gathering place for Tharman supporters. Maybe I should go down to the hawker centre but in the end, I choose to stay at home.

The sample election results came in slightly after 1040pm. Mr Tharman unexpected got a whopping 70 percent of votes leading the other two candidates .it was certainly much higher than my expected 55 percent. Looking backwards, I guess Mr Tharman has been leading all the way from the start of this election in this 3 horse race, and his slogan of “mutual respect “ has earned many people support and certainly a large portion of votes from the generally opposition votes .

On the other hand, I was relatively disappointed that Mr tan kin Lian just received a low votes percentage of 13.88 ( I thought he would have gathered anything from 25 percent to 30 percent ) , but looking on a bright side , he still managed to secure his deposit , and so is another candidate NG Kok song (15.72 percent) . That’s so much about this PE. Mr Tharman will be our president for the next 6 years, hope he can really unite Singaporeans regardless of race, religion and political affiliation. I hope by the next president election due in 2029, we will still see competition, and hopefully some stronger opposition candidate would appear to give the pap candidate a tougher fight.

Looking forward for my United States / Canada tour, it’s counting down 5 days to my trip to United States. I managed to meet up with Alan a few days ago to celebrate our early birthday and he give me tips on what to expect in Los Angeles and Vancouver. Most of the plan in untied states had been fixed , but not for Canada trip , I still rather mixed if I really need to book any tour guide , I would spent this few days to iron out all the details . For the flight to Honolulu on the first day, I applied online for vegetarian food, but till today, there is still no news yet. I hope that I could secure some meal, if not I have to eat bread in the next 20 hours flight.

The president Election 2023

This year is the year of the president election every 6 years. Since the last PE is a walkover, it had been 12 years since we are tasked as Singaporeans to vote for a new head of state. I guess I should write a blog for such important event.

Since the start of the year, there are talks about the coming PE (whether would it be another walk over by president halimah? Or would there be a competitor coming up?) . Around April, eyebrows were raised when Lee xian Yang (the son of LKY) consider coming in for the President election, but in the end he didn’t come back to Singapore to compete for the election.

Since around Jun of this year, president halimah decided not to run for the next election. So Tharman becomes the PAP choice of candidate put forward for the election. Another 3 private candidates (mainly Mr Ng, Mr Goh, and Mr Tan) throw their hats on the PE. In the end, only 2 managed to receive the eligibility form given out by The ELD. Mr Goh didn’t get that certificate, but I guess it might be a good thing as 4 horse race would further dilute the Oppositions vote and theoretically hand Mr Tharman a confirmed victory

Over the nine days, campaign has been centred at the word ”independent”. Mr Tharman had emphasized on the independence of mind, Mr Ng stress the importance of independence from all political parties, and Mr Tan on the independence from PAP. So much difference on the meaning of independent but we do need to ask ourselves, can it be achievable? Does Mr Tharman political view differ much from his PAP ex colleagues? Would it be different, different but almost the same? Likewise, I don’t believe PE can be free from politics, it’s always part of politics, whether pro establishment (PAP) or anti – establishment (anti PAP). It’s only whether how much people supports the ruling party.

Another point to consider would be the duties of the president. In simple words, what can the president do when the prime minister becomes corrupt? Or make mistake? Will the president be able to exercise VETO? Or will the president become the good good man (好好先生) to the PAP government? This is something we should ponder before making that important decision.

So in the end of the day, who should I vote for? There is no Tan Cheng Bok I could vote for in this election and I do not think voting for any of the 3 candidates would ever change anything for Singaporeans in the near future. But I should vote based on my heart (if you know who in voting for). Result wise, I think it would still be ok no matter who wins the PE, as life still goes on.

国庆节的外出 （去飞禽公园）

2023 年的国庆节，本来的计划是和母亲一起参观总统府。上网看了几天，才赫然发现总统府不是所有的公共假期都开放的。只有特别的日子，才会对外开放。而且要等总统府网站发出声明，我们才有机会去。看来一年最多也是开放一两次罢了。去不成总统府的我们，还能去那里呢？想想飞禽公园近来已经搬到万里园区了，不如就去那里走一下。上网买了三张票，成人票还要43元（真不便宜）。还好的是，我母亲因为是乐龄人士，入场有半价吧。

当天早上，我驾车去到秉学表弟的家楼下去载他，然后先去附近吃早餐。之后才驾车去到 bird paradise. 到那里大概是10点了。那里和动物园还是有些距离，连停车场都是不一样的。大概1015分才走进园区。当时参观的人，没有自己想象的多。地方也没有很大，感觉比在旧的裕廊飞禽公园小。那里的指示牌不是很明显，所以，我们也只能看到路就走，看到动物就拍照，也坐了一次缆车（免费）但只有两个站而已 （比之前的四个站少了许多）

到了1130 和12点半，我们有去到表演区看两组的表演。都相当不错。可是和之前的表演来说，感觉表演项目还是大同小异。这样的地方，三年来一次，已经相当足够了。下午，有找个地方吃午饭 。看了看地图，发现能用餐的地方不多。到了比较便宜的FOOD COURT，那里地方相当小，人又多。想找个位子都困难。找到位子后，排队订餐也花了不少时间。排了10分钟，才发现自己唯一能吃的面包，已经卖完了，我们也只能和杯咖啡。母亲有说，下次应该准备一些面包，可以不用买园里的食物 （也挺贵一下）

之后，我们在附近走了一个半小时，就出去了。我母亲相当饿，我们直接去到HILLVIEW 的 素食店解决晚餐。回顾一下今天的行程，还是不错的。下次再约秉学表弟，要等到11月分后的事了。反正我九月会去美国，我母亲十月会跟团去泰国。

讲到美国之行，在很多不确定的情况下，总会有些后悔订机票到这么远的地方。佛堂这几个的节目开始增加了，去了美国，就错失了参与一些重要的节目。但票都买了，不去也不行，只有硬着头皮去吧。之后未来一年就不出国了，多省钱，多努力道学的东西，才是这两年最重要的事。想想今年的生日，还是会自己一个人度过，和自己说。没有愿望，就不会失望。

游戏打了5年，终于拿到了第三次的“王” 。接下来，和自己说，应该减少花在这些游戏上的时间和金钱。

最后，新加坡庆祝58岁生日，也要祝贺所有新加坡人，国庆节快乐，国家要更繁荣，人民要更加和谐，就好了。

难得的总统府的半日游

七月二十三号，难得遇到新加坡总统府的开放。在印象中，我唯一有去到总统府的时候，应该是我小学的时代吧。朋友难得的安排了这次半天的行程，让我的人生增添了又一个美好的回忆。

早上有儿童的节目，中午大家才安排一起去总统府参观。因为有七人一起去，我的车也挤不下这么多人。所以我们分为两组。宗和坐我的车，驾到tiong bahru 市区的停车场放车。然后坐MRT 过去。另外一组人坐Grab 过去。

到那里，大概是下午一点半了。金兰等人已经走进去了。我和宗和先在外面排队。今天参观的人也不少，感觉大半都是外籍客工（大概是因为不用钱的缘故，来的人也不少。排了15分钟才进到园里。ISTANA 没有自己想象中的大。一路走到政府的大厅，周围还有一表演的活动。到了政府大楼，大家又得排队进去参观。这参观就得花一些钱，如果是自己参观的话，就是一人两元。如果要有导览就要四元。我和宗和决定自己走（可以省一点钱），但对里面的文物和摆设品就不是很了解。想想如果多花两元找向导来解释，相信会更有收获。这次的行程来不及吃午餐，但谢太有准备一些三文治，让我们当午餐吃。

政府大厦还有个四大种族的音乐会，表演都相当精彩。这次没有机会看到现任的哈利码总统，感觉有点可惜。在大厦前的花园坐下来休息一下和拍照。到三点才慢慢走出去，结束半天的行程。回顾这一次的旅行，还是很有收获的吧。

讲到工作方面，只从上个网络应征到现在，也没有出现任何的机会。AGENt 有几个打来，但只是聊聊几句。看来要在8月时丢信，大概不可能了。和自己说，做工要学会乐观一点，有份工作，领一份薪水就好。

旅行方面，所有的飞机票，和旅社都已经安排好了。放到tripadvisor 和 facebook 的询问，没有很多正面的回答。很多东西，也只能自己决定，看一步走一步。虽然很多的顾虑，但和自己说。钱花出去了，就要学会开心。九月的美国，应该还是相当的热吧，只有到了温哥华才会好一些。 写到这里，和自己说，不会谈恋爱的，一个人也可以很开心
