Lifes a Dilemma

My company had organised a outing to Desaru tommorrow(24 jul 2010) for the whole day, but then, i have a lot of mixed feeling towards the outing. Not becuse of the outing itself, as i must admit, i love outing. going out with a huge group of people is fantastic.

but then, my colleague's relationship weren;t so good, and there were times stresses buiilt up over work, and at other times, we didn't talk at all. i wonder who would ever talk to me during the trip. i couldn;t find any partner to go along either. But then, i told myself. there are times i need to step out to try new things, make new friends , maybe.

maybe the only motive i have is to go there, take some photo and post at FB.. just stay happy would be good enough :)

just a though in mind

i have not been to sentosa for a very long time. I wonder when someone can "chio" me there

maybe have to wait Bery long .. sad :(

I was fuming when I saw Suarez (Uruguay striker) making a “volleyball” block to a certain goal by Ghana. It resulted in a red card and a penalty kick (which Gyan failed to convert).

Although this is really unethical works from a professional player, but we must admit that from the point of tactics, this is a good move. It’s kind of (show hand) gamble by Suarez. At the point, if he does nothing, Uruguay would have booked the next available flight home. But when he does it (handed the ball), there are still some chances that the penalty does not goes in (which indeed it is true).
Now the question, is Suarez a villain or hero?

Love thee, because Suarez has performed outstandingly during the group match and the round of 16 producing 3 goals for his country. Most importantly, he ‘sacrificed’ himself for the sake of his country. Whether will he play in the semis is no longer relevant, Uruguay has created history since 40 years ago. On the other hand, Ghana will have to wait for 4 more years for such chance to come.

Hate thee; soccer would no longer be professional or ’beautiful’. Players will go all the way out to flout the rules just for the sake of winning. Winners would no longer be decided by who is stronger, but by who is more cunning. Comparing the hands of GOD (Hands of the devil, I would say) by Maradona in 1986 or Thierry Henry’s handball that got France thru in the world cup 2010, is Suarez a ‘better’ football player or volleyball player?

But then this is just soccer, and only goals counts. It’s a game where only results are important. How to get there (or the process) is not in the priority. If Gyan had succeeded in the penalty kick, Suarez may still continue to be the villain. But then in a twist of stories, the ‘villain’ is being transformed to ‘hero’ in just less than a minute. There is a Chinese saying, 勝者為王,敗者為寇. As long as you win, you are the king.

But then this is soccer, I guess. Unless rules changes in the future, unprofessional play such as diving, time wasting and many more will still prevail for a very long time to come. Whether you love thee or hate thee (soccer), we have to accept the fact; soccer is never ‘clean’.

Cheers
